SilkPin out and about- Engadine

Its exciting to start to see SilkPin products popping up in local stores. One of our new stockists is Found:: The Store, located in Engadine. We lived in Engadine for our first year of marriage so have a little soft spot for the area and was very excited to hear that sisters Toni and Shelli were starting a small homewares business in the area, with a focus on handmade treasures. We took a visit for the first time recently and were excited seeing SilkPin products on display with so many other beautiful finds.

And I must say that Engadine is becoming home to a few little treasures of its own, with families the common theme. Just up the road we stopped by to take a quick look at the always gorgeous window display at Engadine Florist, where creative sisters Naomi and Esther make everyone feel at home in their beautiful smelling haven.

and afterwards for a quick coffee and cake stop at The Jack of Harts & Jude, a charming new coffee shop that makes you feel so warm and welcome you feel like you are sitting in your Grandma's kitchen with the smell of homemade baked goods wafting through the air.

Another family run business this great find is hidden down a little alley and makes me miss the quite suburban life at Engadine. The furniture, wall stickers, cake displays and tea cups make for excellent eye candy and the coffee is made with love which makes you never want to leave.

South Coast Pleasures

The south coast is one of my favourite places on this earth. As a youngin' i remember family holidays picking berries and eating freshly baked scones on our friends property in Kangaroo Valley. In more recent years i have travelled there with special friends creating memories that make me smile. Last weekend my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary and treated ourselves to a little weekend enjoying some of our favourites. If you are yet to discover the pleasures of Pilgrams Cafe burgers (which were devoured before they got snapped) or Nikki B's antique treasures in Milton or the yummy coffee at Sourdough Bakery and scrumptious homewares at Roots and Wings in Berry than make sure you plan an adventure soon.

I could spend way too long looking at lovely sites like this, that feature sweet little treasures for our places and spaces. This weeks fave is Love Loans and Linen; a designer homewares store in beautiful Palm Beach. I love the neutral organic look of their store with papers and textures that create artworks in themselves.

Can't wait to drag my husband on another adventure across Sydney to see this one in the flesh.

...and while I mention it if you also happen to embark on an adventure to Palm Beach for the day be sure to stop off at the Boathouse for breaky or lunch. It was a suprise birthday visit that took me there and i absolutely loved it. Yummy coffee, delicious food and most importantly so much to spy on from the counter to our seats.

For the last few weeks ive been spending my Thursday nights infront of the TV drooling over the delights of Adriano Zumbo. This guy is seriously the pastry chief of my dreams. He specialises in creating delightful little edible artworks. My favourite is his collection of macarons, including flavours like Pink Grapefruit, Burnt Toast with Butter, Caramello koala, Blue cheese with Pear and Golden Gaytime...im drooling thinking about them!

What a perfect little high tea snack to go with the newest addition to the SilkPin range.

Incidental beauty.

i see beautiful things. everywhere. everyday. Sometimes I have to look harder than normal because the beauty is hidden a little deeper, but it is always there. In the obvious and in the not so obvious. Sometimes this can be distracting and i find myself over stimulated and not sure what to do with all the inspirations and ideas floating around my head. Often I like to capture things on film or in a drawing but sometimes I like to just take in the moment and add it to the bank of memories.

I've realised over the last few years, that not everybody sees the world this way. Some can easily walk by a line of old terrace houses and not give a second glance at the art deco patterns in the antique windows or can tuck into a yummy fresh summer salad without taking a moment to marvel at the array of beautiful vivid colours.

My business partner Justine and I are days away from launching our new small business venture, SilkPin. For us, SilkPin is an outlet to capture some of our daily inspirations and share them with the world. The imagery we develop, the colours selected, the patterns created, the details carefully constructed and the placement of design quietly speak of our desire to create pieces to beautify places and spaces.

This blog has been created to keep you up to date with what SilkPin is doing but also to share with you some of our daily inspirations.....to see the visual loveliness in life....

Fabric Hunting....

Today SilkPin went fabric hunting; searching through rolls and rolls of beautiful fabrics to source material for our newest range. Purchases were successful! Yah. Stay tuned for some linen lovliness.
